The Animals (Scientific Procedures) Act 1986 requires that all Licensed Establishments have a Named Veterinary Surgeon (NVS) to provide expert advise on animal health & welfare. This is equivalent to the Designated Veterinarian role elsewhere in EU, or to the “Attending Vet” in the USA.
